Mountain Scholars is a program at Colorado Mountain College (CMC) funded by The Summit Foundation. Mountain Scholars works with the Summit High School Pre-Collegiate Program to identify first generation students who would benefit from starting at CMC for their first two years, and then continuing at CMC if appropriate or transferring to another college or four-year university to complete their education. Scholars selected into the program, work with a college advisor and local mentor, who assist students financially and academically as they navigate life beyond high school.
Since 2013, 61% of Mountain Scholars have earned a Postsecondary Degree, which is 50% higher than national average for first generation students. Mountain Scholar students are also 24% more likely to stay in school than other CMC students.
