2022 Spotlight Projects
SOS OutReach- $15,000SOS Outreach provides outdoor mentorship opportunities to Colorado youth. By connecting youth to the outdoors, SOS provides strong relationships, tools for empowerment, and lifelong skills for success.
Through the outdoor-based youth mentoring program, SOS Outreach has transformed the lives of over 80,000 kids & teens from underserved communities since 1993. After providing preliminary, phase one services for youth in Routt County, SOS Outreach has expanded programming full-time. This expansion allows youth to access a full menu of services through their participation in multiple phases of programming. |
In partnership with UCHealth and CSU Extension, we helped support the establishment of a community garden in Steamboat Springs. The garden offers 20 total plots. Three of these garden plots are reserved specifically for nonprofit use. The remained plots can be rented out by community members.
Moniker oversees the selection and management of the three nonprofit designated plots. In 2022, Yampa Valley Autism Program and the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Colorado occupied garden plots. In 2023, we will select three different organizations who are interested in a garden space. The garden plots are a valuable asset in that they provide anything from growing fresh produce, to promoting strong mental health, to creating something from the ground up. If you are a Routt County nonprofit interested in maintaining a garden plot in spring of 2023, please reach out to Rachel. |
Youth Philanthropy Program - $6,500In partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Colorado, we have established a youth philanthropy program that encourages youth to give back using their time, treasures, and talents. Students engage in lessons about philanthropy and community. From there, they select local nonprofits to work with for a service project, volunteer day, or fundraiser. After volunteering, Moniker Foundation awards the selected nonprofits a grant of $1,000-$2,000. In 2022, students selected Lift Up Routt County, Warhorse Ranch, and
Young Bloods Collectives. Additionally, in October of 2022, we created a new partnership with a group called Steamboat Little Givers. Steamboat Little Givers completes monthly community projects including food drives, bake sales, and more. In return for their hard work, they receive a free copy of The Daring Duo book series. Since its inception in 2021 our Youth Philanthropy program has provided grants and volunteer services to over 12 organizations. We are proud of its success and plan to continue it through 2023 and beyond. |
